Changing a video container can still require re-encoding, so inspect the route rather than assuming the streams will be copied unchanged. Video output can alter dimensions, frame rate, orientation, duration, audio, and compression quality. Audio or GIF output discards the video information that the destination cannot hold.
Video files use the private media worker because browsers do not provide consistent encoders for these pairs. The route validates the source signature, applies bounded trim and transform settings, removes source metadata, checks the output, and deletes the temporary job directory. Keep the source until playback, duration, orientation, and audio have been checked in the target application.
Match the output to the playback environment. MP4 is widely accepted, while WebM can suit browser delivery and GIF or APNG can suit short silent animation. Test the first and last seconds, seek through the middle, confirm the frame orientation and crop, and listen for synchronization problems before publishing or deleting the source.
