Choose lossless output when later editing matters, and compressed output when size or playback compatibility matters more. MP3 encoding discards audio information, so converting a low-quality source to a higher bitrate does not restore detail. Sample rate, channel count, trim points, volume, and bitrate should match the destination rather than the source filename alone.
Audio conversion runs in the isolated media worker. It validates the input, applies only the selected audio settings, validates the produced file, and removes temporary data after the request. Listen to the beginning, a middle section, and the end before relying on the download, especially after trimming or changing channels.
WAV and FLAC preserve audio without lossy encoding, though WAV files are usually larger. MP3 is smaller and broadly supported but loses information during encoding. For speech, confirm that voices remain clear after bitrate and channel changes. For music, listen for distortion, clipped peaks, missing channels, and gaps at the trim boundaries.
