Reorder selected PDF pages and save them as a new local file. Use Organize PDF without creating an account. The workbench keeps the source and result together so you can check the output before downloading it.

Organize PDF covers correcting a document with pages in the wrong order, building a shorter handout from selected pages, and placing cover or signature pages where they belong. Its controls stay on one page, with status and validation messages beside the work area.

Compatible files are processed in your browser and are not sent to a PWRKIT processing server. If the input contains sensitive information, follow your organization’s rules for online utilities.

Before using the result, confirm that a PDF and the required page sequence is complete and that a PDF containing pages in the entered order matches the destination format. Keep the original until you have checked the output in the application or context where it will be used.

The related pdf tools cover the next common tasks without changing your original input.

What should I check after using Organize PDF?

Confirm that a PDF containing pages in the entered order matches the intended format and context. Keep the original until the result has been verified.

Organize PDF creates a new document from the pages you name and follows the sequence exactly as entered. A value such as 3, 1-2, 4 places page three first, then pages one and two, followed by page four. This is useful when a scanner saved a cover at the end, a report was assembled in the wrong order, or a shorter handout needs pages drawn from several parts of one source.

Write down the intended order before processing a long document. Page numbers refer to the source PDF, beginning with one, rather than a printed page label inside the document. A title page may have no printed number, and front matter may use Roman numerals, but the browser still counts those sheets from the first PDF page. Compare the source viewer's page counter with the visible labels before entering the sequence.

Every source page that should appear in the result must be included. Omitting a number removes that page from the new copy, while the original file remains unchanged. The workbench ignores a repeated page number after its first appearance, so it is intended for ordering and selection rather than page duplication. Keep a written checklist for contracts, applications, and filing packets where a missing page could invalidate the submission.

Separate items with commas. A single number selects one source page, and a hyphen between two numbers selects every page in that inclusive range. For a twelve-page source, 12, 1, 3-6, 8 produces pages twelve, one, three, four, five, six, and eight in that order. Spaces around commas are accepted, so the sequence can be formatted for readability without changing the output.

A range is normalized from its lower endpoint to its higher endpoint. Enter 8-10 for pages eight through ten. If a section itself must run backward, list those pages individually as 10, 9, 8. This makes an unusual reversal explicit and avoids an accidental interpretation. The result must contain at least one valid page, and every number must fall between one and the page count shown after the source is loaded.

For a large rearrangement, work in logical groups. A sequence might begin with the new cover, continue with the executive summary, add the main chapters, and finish with appendices. Confirm each group separately against the source before joining the text into one field. The page parser reports invalid tokens and out-of-range numbers, but it cannot know that page seventeen belongs before page sixteen in your intended narrative.

After selection, the browser reads the PDF with pdf-lib and checks that its page tree can be opened. When Organize PDF runs, a fresh PDF document is created. Each requested source page is copied into that document in sequence, then the new document is serialized with PDF object streams enabled. The source bytes are not overwritten, and the download uses a new filename based on the original name and the tool action.

Copying pages preserves their page content and dimensions, but it is not the same as editing text in a desktop PDF application. Links, form relationships, document outlines, tagged reading order, page labels, signatures, attachments, and scripts can depend on objects outside an individual page. Review those features after reordering. A visually correct result may still need accessibility remediation or link repair when its original structure was complex.

Processing takes place in the current browser tab. PWRKIT does not send the selected PDF to a processing server. The page holds the chosen file and generated blob until reset, replacement, navigation, or tab closure. Local processing reduces transfer exposure, but it does not change workplace rules. Do not open restricted material in any browser utility unless your organization permits that workflow on the current device.

Duplex scanners can produce predictable ordering mistakes. Some devices save all front sides first and all back sides afterward. Others place a feeder cover at the end or rotate sheets without changing their position. Organize PDF can correct the sequence when each required page is present and readable. Determine the scanner's pattern from visible page content, then enter the source numbers in the order a reader should encounter them.

Suppose a six-sheet packet appears as fronts 1, 3, 5 followed by backs 6, 4, 2. The correct source sequence could be 1, 6, 2, 5, 3, 4, depending on how the feeder numbered those images. Do not copy that example blindly. Use names, dates, continuation sentences, signature blocks, and printed page numbers to reconstruct the actual packet, then compare each transition in the output.

Reordering does not deskew scans, rotate sideways sheets, remove blank borders, run optical character recognition, or reduce image size. Use Rotate PDF for orientation. A dedicated OCR step is required when scanned words must become searchable text. If the scanner created blank sheets, leave those page numbers out only after confirming that they contain no faint marks, initials, stamps, or back-side content needed for the record.

An ordered subset can turn a long reference file into a meeting packet, classroom extract, client proof, or filing exhibit. Start by identifying the pages that supply necessary context, not only the pages with the main answer. A chart may rely on its legend, a contract clause may rely on a definition page, and a worksheet may rely on instructions printed earlier. Include those dependencies in the entered sequence.

Organize PDF is suitable when all source pages come from one PDF. If pages must come from several files, use Merge PDF to create one combined source first, inspect the merged page count, then organize that combined copy. Another option is to extract the needed pages from each source and merge the smaller results. Choose the path that makes page verification simplest and keeps a clear trail back to each original.

A selected-page result may expose information that was harmless only in the complete document. Headers can reveal internal project names, footers can include confidential classifications, and a cropped-looking scan may still contain hidden searchable text. Open the download in a PDF viewer, search for sensitive terms, inspect document properties, and apply an approved redaction process when information must be permanently removed rather than merely omitted by page.

Page reordering changes the relationship between visible pages and document navigation. A table of contents can still point to old destinations, bookmarks can describe an earlier sequence, and printed references such as see page 24 may no longer match the new file. Test links from the first page through the last. For publication work, update the contents page and cross-references in the source authoring file when possible, then export a fresh PDF.

Interactive forms require extra care. Field names can repeat across pages, calculations can depend on fields that were omitted, and submit buttons can expect the original document structure. Fill a disposable copy of the organized result and test every required control before distribution. A browser page-copy operation does not certify that a government, banking, or signature platform will accept the rebuilt form.

Accessible PDFs may contain a tag tree that defines headings, paragraphs, tables, and reading sequence for assistive software. Moving visible pages does not guarantee that this logical structure remains correct. Use a PDF accessibility checker and a screen reader for documents that must meet an accessibility standard. Confirm page labels, language, title, heading order, alternative text, and keyboard navigation rather than relying only on visual inspection.

A digital signature usually covers specific bytes or document revisions. Rebuilding pages changes those bytes and can make an existing signature report that the document was modified after signing. Do not organize a signed contract and present the result as the original signed record. Preserve the signed source, verify its signature in trusted software, and follow the receiving party's rules for copies, exhibits, or newly assembled packets.

Court filings, tax records, medical records, permits, and academic submissions may have page-count, file-size, naming, archival, or signature requirements. Read the destination instructions before editing. The fact that a PDF opens and looks correct does not prove that it meets PDF/A, electronic filing, long-term preservation, or records-management rules. Use validation software named by the receiving authority when a technical profile is required.

Keep the original file, the entered sequence, and the final output together until review is complete. A simple note such as source pages 5,1-4 became output pages 1-5 can help another reviewer reproduce the change. Use filenames that distinguish source, working copy, and approved result. Avoid replacing the original with the organized download, especially when the source carries evidence, metadata, or signatures that the rebuilt copy does not preserve.

The workbench accepts PDF files up to 100 MB. It rejects files that cannot be parsed or that require unsupported encryption handling. A .pdf extension alone is not proof of valid PDF content. If the file fails immediately, open it in a trusted viewer, confirm that it is readable, and save a fresh copy only when you are authorized to do so. Password removal must follow the document owner's access rules.

An invalid page message usually means the field contains an unsupported token, a number below one, a number above the source page count, or no selection. Use comma-separated numbers and ascending ranges such as 2, 5-9, 12. Curly punctuation copied from formatted text can also cause trouble, so type the commas and hyphens directly. The displayed page count is the boundary for every number in the sequence.

If the download opens with missing content, compare the affected source page in a second viewer. Rare PDF features can rely on shared objects that page copying does not reproduce as expected. For critical output, print a visual comparison or use a desktop editor that reports preflight results. If the result is unexpectedly large, remember that organizing changes object structure and is not a compression task. Use Compress PDF separately and inspect quality afterward.
